GEN. BOROH INSPECTS EQUIPMENT AT FG’S AMNESTY VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE IN ONDO STATE


The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (Rtd) at the weekend embarked on inspection of facilities at the federal government’s Amnesty Programe vocational training centre located in Agadabga Obon-Arogbo in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo State, informing that President Muhammandu Buhari’s sincere commitment to the peace and infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region has built confidence in the people of the Niger Delta region.

Gen. Boroh who expressed the desirability to continue with the ongoing training and empowerment of delegates, promised to engage qualified beneficiaries of the educational scholarship scheme with first and second degrees in relevant disciplines as instructors and teachers both at the centre and in existing institutions in the community, with a view to filling existing manpower gap in the Niger Delta Region. 
 The Presidential aide assured the riverine people of Ondo State that his office was working on a number of empowerment initiatives to meaningfully engage youths in the region, particularly the beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, adding that the present administration is poised to making life most meaningful at the grassroots through what he referred to as “quick impacts projects” to address the immediate needs of the people, such as provision of portable drinking water, health centers, bathrooms, recreational facilities, ICT Centers and Entertainment facilities among other social amenities that would create direct impact on the rural dwellers.

In his welcome address, the spokesman of Agadagba Obon community, Elder Joweigha Eliseri, remunerated the needs of the community which includes, completion of all abandoned projects, construction of a link bridge, employment of graduates from the community, provision of power and health centre, with focus on aquaculture and Agriculture, while thanking the Amnesty Coordinator for the visit. 
Earlier, the facility manager, Mr. Kekemeke Oju, had briefed the Special Adviser on the present status of work done at the training centre, informing that the original concept of the vocational centre was for capacity building training of delegates of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in oil and gas, saying that equipments that could significantly enhance safety drilling operations and other areas in the oil and gas industry are already available at the centre.

 He said with the kind of equipments available, the centre can undertake other vocational trainings outside the oil and gas industry. The Special was conducted round the centre by a prominent ex-agitator, High Chief Bibopre Ajube, popularly known as “shoot at sight”.
